Hamburg World Championships preview 28th August 2007

Good morning Guys and Gals,

Well its 4 days to go before the World Championships in Hamburg Germany. Normally I would be starting to get a bit nervous with all the energy building up from a nice big taper!! but thanks to Beijing in two and half weeks I'm still a little tired from training... But honestly, It's strange to be heading into a World Championships with my mindset still firmly fixed on my main goal of performing well in Beijing two weeks later. Such is the way my programme worked out this season somewhere there was always going to have to be a sacrifice made.

So with my programme firmly focused towards Beijing it meant that worlds this weekend has taken somewhat of a backseat. Its strange having no stress heading into normally the biggest race of the year for me. I feel really relaxed, and will be looking to be at the front most of the day. That way I hope to stay out of any trouble that may occur as everyone is a bit nervous in such a big race. But you never know what might happen if everything falls into place on the day.

On the Monday after the World Championships I'll travel to our Triathlon New Zealand base in Japan, Nagano. There I'll get over the jet lag associated with traveling to Asia, Ensure I get acclimatized pre race to the heat in China, and do the last key sessions that need to be done. I'll be there until the Thursday before the race and then travel onto Beijing with the rest of the team. Hope all is well with everyone back home. And speak to you after the weekend when I have some spare time in the land of the rising sun.

Cheers, Kris
