Beijing World Cup 17th September 2007

doneWell its game on in Beijing in 2008 and unlike yesterday, in August next year it will be for keeps!!

Yesterday I qualified for the Olympic games in Beijing in 2008. Its been a lot of hard work and dedication over the last years. But on Sunday it all turned out like I had hoped at the Beijing World Cup, which also doubled as our olympic qualifying event. I had done everything right this season in terms of preparation and focus. But there is always the maybe!! heading into a huge race like this. I did feel great before the race. And was really confident that I was in the best form of my life (so far!). But I still had to get the job done when it mattered most.

I`d like to thank my coaches who got me to this point in time. And are all confident themselves we can do much much more in 2008. John Hellemans, Pete Pfitzinger, David Edgar and Wolfgang Thiel you have all been by my side in this walk to Beijing 2008. Now its time to start running and keep the ball rolling all the way until August next year. To everyone else out there that has supported me, whether its been my loyal sponsors or loving family and friends; trust in me that 2008 will only be bigger and better I promise.

runThe race it self went pretty smoothly. Ok swim... didn't get beaten up to much that is!! A very strong bike. I rode at the front the whole 40k and had a lot of control within the bunch. A good second transition as always. And then I hit the ground running for the business part of the whole day!. I felt great on the run and ran within myself most of the time. I wanted to push full throttle but once the qualifying situation was looking comfortable I decided to get to the line in one piece. Savour my ticket and the chance it will give me too race for Olympic glory.

To Bevan, congrads bro! He also got the qualification and will head to his second olympics. To Debbie and Sam well done in your races the day before, your tickets are ready to be picked up as well. But to Andrea, Nicky, Evelyn, Terrenzo, Shane, Clark and Ben keep ya head up and keep focusing for Mooloolaba you all still have the dream and its still alive. I`ve been where you are at the moment and I know its hard. But as long as you give your best its all you can ask from yourself on the day.
So my big Lufthansa bird back to Germany is ready to go. I look forward to a sit down dinner at home with Anja and Frodo. We now have some common dinner talk.... Beijing 2008 here we go!!!
Cheers,
Kris
