Rounding out the year 2nd November 2007
Afternoon to all from high in the rocky mountains!
Well its time for my last race of the season. Tomorrow I head to Cancun, Mexico for the last round of the world cup circuit for the year. I'll do an end of season wrap after the race but so far 2007 has been everything I had hoped it would be.
My consistency is something that I'm really proud of this year. I have maintained a ranking in the top all year long. And have finished in the top five, Six out of the eight World cup races I have competed in. I now have the confidence in myself that when I'm in good shape, I know I can be on or near the podium every time.
This weekend will be a bit of a struggle though I wont lie... After my win in the Rhodes World Cup I got the flu really bad. I had managed to stay healthy all year but it finally caught up with me before I was to race in Dallas at the US open. I still felt ok so toed the line, but as soon as the gun went I knew there was a lack of power in my muscles and it made for a very hard race!
Since then I have been up at Altitude in Boulder Colorado. The flu hung around for a week and half and so my training has been compromised heading into this race. But I keep looking on the bright side and think that the goal and job for the year was achieved so anything else now a bonus. ITU world cups can be funny events, you never know what luck you will have ( good or bad ). So with that in mind I'm off to Cancun to roll the dice, and what will be will be...
